Stanhope Public School is located in Stanhope, New Jersey in the northwestern part of the state. It is about one hour from the shore and one hour from NYC. The school has 411 students in grades k-8. There will be six seventh and eighth grade students from Stanhope participating in the lighthouse study. They are in Mrs. Meyer's Language Arts class, and their names are Melissa, Alina, Laura, Ryan, Craig and Frank. They will be  researhing Sandy Hook, Barnegat,  Cape May, Hereford, Abescon and the Navasink Light Station in New Jersey.  They will visit one of these unique structures this spring.

Winman Junior High School is located in Warwick, Rhode Island, a city of 86,000 people situated on Narraganett Bay.  There are 21 lighthouses in Jrhode Island and two of them, Conimicut Light and Warwick Neck Light, are located in Warwick.  We have over 600 seventh and eight grade students at Winman. 24 students from the Enrichment Opportunities Program are participating in the lighthouse project.  Their names are:  Mike, Rachel, Katie, Steph, Adam, Rachel H., Craig, Sean, Maria, Brian, Jason, Katie, Alex, Jeff, James, Terry, Cody, Lee, Mike B., Mike Jr., Kaley, Ben, Ian and David.

Culebrear Home School kufu@swcp.com Culebrear Home School is located in Corrales, New Mexico which is near Albuquerque. There are 3 students in the school.  Jon, who is in the eight grade, will be responsible for leading the Lighthouse project at Culebrear.  They have participated in other internet projects and are anxious to study lighthouses.  Since they live in the desert and have no lighthouses near them, they will be taking a close look at the Pharos of Alexandria.

Timber Ridge Magnet School is located in Skokie, Illinois. It is a magnet school, focusing on science and technology. The school has grades k-8, with no more than 20 students perclass and two classes per grade level. 36 eighth grade students will be participating in the loighthouse stusdy. The coordinatoer of this project at Timber Ridge is Cheryl Cherry. She will be working with the other eighth grade teacher.

The school is located in northern California along a stretch of rugged coastline which includes Cape Mendocino. This is the western point of California which has many hazardous capes and reefs. Because of this, the area has several lighthouses; Cape Mendocino, Trinidad Head, Punta Gorda and farther north, Cresent City. A local maritime museum conatins the fresnel lens. The students are seventh and eighth graders and their teacher is Ken Pinkerton.

Breton Woods School is located in Hauppauge, New York which is on Long Island. Long Island is an island about 18 miles wide and 120 miles long. To the north it is separated from Connecticut by the Long Island Sound. To the east and south is the Atlantic Ocean and to the west is the East River. To get to New York City from Hauppauge, you must cross the East River by tunnel or bridge. 48 students in two fourth grade classes will be participating in the project. Three teachers and a teaching assistant, Partricia Martin, Laurie Teachout, Amy Dreschler, and Carol Schipani, will be working with the students.
